Frequently Asked Questions

Q.
Can I make some changes to one of your homes to suit my personal tastes?
A.
Yes each one of our homes is individually blueprinted to your specifications whether you choose one of our designs or a custom design.  We don't start building until you're happy with every little detail including where each plug in will be placed.  Of course if you add onto a plan there will be a minimal charge.
Q.
Can I bring in a plan and have an RTM Home built from it?
A.
Yes. We call these our custom designs and many of our customer choose to go this route.  As long as your plan fits within our moving guidelines we'd love to help you.  Typically we don't move homes that is wider than 36 feet, but depending on your design there is some flexibility.
Q.
What about a garages?  Some of your homes have garages shown in the diagrams
A.
Many of our designs have the option of adding an attached garage, however we don't typically ship homes with garages.  We recommend you have your garage built on site, as the extra cost of moving a home with a garage can become cost prohibitive.  We have contractors who we can recommend and will travel throughout the province to help you with a garage.
Q.
How long will it take for my Home to be built?
A.
Once you have signed off the blueprints for your home it typically will take 6 months to complete, but check with a salesman as times do vary depending on how busy we are at the time of your order, and what time of year it is.
Q.
How do you build homes so affordably and quickly?
A.
All of our RTM Homes are built at our site in Saskatoon, right beside our lumber yard, where we have access to both materials and specialized trades all at one location. Because of this your home is moved along quickly, and doesn't have to sit waiting for weeks for a specialized trade to come in.
Q.
Is a RTM a lower quality than a stick built home?
A.
Absolutely NOT. If anything, your Home is built stronger than a stick built home because it has to undergo a move that may be hundreds of miles.  Your home is built from the same quality materials that a builders would use and to the same government standards and codes.  Our homes are all inspected and certified before they leave our site.
Q. What happens if there is damage in moving my home.
A. Your Covered!  After your home is moved and you have the electricity, water, and heat (in cold weather) hooked up the J & H Warranty department will send out a Warranty Specialist who will fix any cracks and damage that happened during the move, as well as put up your glass light fixtures, etc.  After this you will be covered for first year for any cracks, etc that happen due to settling.  See our Saleperson for details.
Q.
What sort of warranty does a J & H home come with?
A.
All of our homes are backed with the Saskatchewan 5 year new home warranty.  We back our work with the best warranty program available in the province.  We have been building RTM Homes for 40 years (since 1969), and are one of the most trusted RTM builders in the industry.
